The Career Path for Consultants

Mary Kay Ash is the founder of the Mark Kay organization. She based her company on the idea that it should enrich the lives of Mary Kay Independent Consultants through the quality of Mary Kay products and rewards for selling those products. Mary Kay products should improve the lives of Independent

Consultants and customers.

Becoming a Mary Kay Products Independent Beauty Consultant
To become a Mary Kay Independent Consultant, a Mary Kay products purchase must be made from $600 to $4,800 wholesale. This purchase turns a Mary Kay products recruit into a qualified recruit. To remain an active Mark Kay Independent Consultant, a minimum wholesale purchase of $200 in Mary Kay products must be made every three months. To remain a consultant a minimum of $200 in Mary Kay products must be made each year. Mary Kay products offer Independent Consultants a chance to increase earning and position within the Mark Kay organization.

Becoming a Director in Qualification

The first step beyond Independent Consultant is Director in Qualification. To qualify for this upward move within the company, the Mary Kay Independent Consultant must recruit thirty new Independent Consultants within four months and have minimum wholesale orders of $4,000 each moth during that four month period. If these achievements are completed, the Independent Consultant becomes a Mary Kay products Director.

Mary Kay Directors

A Mary Kay products Director earns either 9% or 13% commission on all wholesale purchases of Mary Kay products made by her team. Her team is made up of all Independent Consultants she has recruited to join the Mark Kay organization. If the Mary Kay Director purchases $5,000 or more of Mary Kay products at wholesale prices in a month, an additional commission of $500 or more is earned. She can also earn an additional $500 for recruiting five or more new Independent Consultants in a single month. Approximately 2% of Mary Kay Independent Consultants become Directors. Mary Kay Directors are responsible for recruiting and training Independent Consultants in the sales principles and practices or the Mary Kay organization.

Senior Director

Director is not the final rung in the Mary Kay success ladder. After completing the Director in Qualification successfully and becoming a Director with a unit of Independent Consultants, the next step is Senior Director. A Senior Director earns either 4% or 6% commissions from the total wholesale purchases of Mary Kay products in addition to commissions from the unit based on recruits this unit brings in and additional units that the original unit produces. The Senior Director also earns $500 additional commission for each offspring unit produced. Senior Directors are responsible for training Directors and Directors in Qualification how to maintain units and recruit additional units and Independent Consultants.
National Director in Qualification

To become a National Director in Qualification, the Senior Director must recruit a minimum of 18 qualifying offspring units. Each offspring unit must purchase a minimum of $20,000 in wholesale Mary Kay products each month for a four month period.
